A group of ten sentenced of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced charges of circulating untruths regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to making defamatory statements about the couple's 24-year age gap.
The court issued conditional custodial sentences of a maximum of eight months to the defendants. The full ruling has not yet been published.
A persistent false narrative alleging that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has spread widely since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This recent ruling in France coincides with the Macrons initiating a libel case in the US against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced similar conspiracy theories about the French president's wife's gender.
Their complaint alleges that Owens disregarded all credible evidence contradicting her allegations choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has regularly repeated these allegations on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 declared that she would risk all her credibility on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she was a teacher at his lycée.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
